After the Germans invaded Hungary on 19.3.1944, Joseph ran away from the Munkács ghetto, hid in the forest and later escaped equipped with forged documents he had received from the movement and arrived in Budapest. Joseph joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” underground activities. He went on daring missions and on one of them he was caught in the Gestapo headquarters on Schwabs Hill (Svábhegy). He was deported to Auschwitz.
After the liberation Joseph was involved in the B’riha. He made aliya in 1948 and joined Kibbutz Yassur. In 1960 he left the kibbutz and settled down in Bethlehem Haglilit. He passed away in 2002.
